Solitaire

A solitary agave stands sentinel on a gravel bench of Pleistocene cobbles high above the Colorado River as it meanders through the Jurassic Navajo Sandstone cliffs of Glen Canyon.

“Solitaire” is a fine fiber art quilt piece bound in black. The canyon is created by hand appliqué technique, then machine quilted for depth and dimension. The lone agave is hand embroidered with fine threads. Hand-laid beadwork create the blossoms of the agave and add sparkling highlights to the river below. This piece is 20x12.5 inches and unframed.
